När ett barn eller en tonåring har tvångssyndrom märks det genom att hen måste tänka på ett visst sätt eller göra vissa saker på ett speciellt sätt. Annars får hen ångest eller tror att någonting hemskt kommer att hända. Det finns bra behandling mot tvångssyndrom. Men när kontrolltvånget tar över hela ens tillvaro, man kontrollerar saker kanske ungefär hälften av ens vakna tid och man varken kan njuta av livet eller sova på nätterna pga att man måste kontrollera saker, då är det ett mycket stort handikapp, och då får man diagnosen OCD.
